International Research Collaboration: Energy Management Lab Host Two Visiting Postdoctoral Researchers from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India

Strengthening its commitment to global academic excellence, the Energy Management Laboratory, Department of Engineering Physics at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), officially hosted two visiting postdoctoral researchers, Dr. Thanigaivelu P S and Dr. Prabu S, from the Department of Computing Technologies, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India.

The two-month intensive academic exchange program, which ran from June to July 2026, was hosted by Prof. Ir. Edi Leksono, M.Eng., Ph.D., a renowned expert in Sustainable Energy Systems and the head of the laboratory. Under his guidance, the initiative aimed to bridge cutting-edge computing technologies with advanced energy systems, fostering cross-disciplinary research between the two institutions.

A Comprehensive Academic and Industrial Itinerary

Throughout their time at ITB, Dr. Thanigaivelu and Dr. Prabu engaged in an extensive series of activities spanning academic workshops, field visits, and industrial interactions:

• Exploring the Innovation Ecosystem at ITB Innovation Park (IIP) The researchers visited the ITB Innovation Park (IIP) to observe ITB’s commercialization framework for technology, startup incubation models, and collaborative research initiatives. The tour highlighted how academic research is transformed into market-ready solutions to support national technological independence.

• Joint Research and Workshops at the Energy Management Lab At the core of the exchange were hands-on research sessions and technical workshops held at the Energy Management Lab. As a pioneer hub for research and innovation in Smart Energy Systems, the lab provided an immersive environment to explore topics such as smart grid optimization, energy storage management, and data-driven energy efficiency algorithms under the mentorship of Prof. Edi Leksono and the lab’s research team.

• Industrial Insight at PT SCADA Prima Cipta To complement their academic efforts with practical applications, the team conducted an industrial visit to PT SCADA Prima Cipta, a leading developer of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for the energy sector. This interaction offered deep insights into industrial automation, remote monitoring technologies, and real-time operational management crucial for modern energy infrastructure.

Fostering Strategic Collaboration: Tangible and Intangible Impact

This program marks a pivotal milestone in establishing a sustainable strategic partnership between ITB and SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The collaboration is designed to yield comprehensive results across both tangible and intangible dimensions:
